Mr. Nassor, A Senior Advisor Of Lomo TFM Company, Was Elected As The President Of The Mining Chamber Of The Democratic Republic Of The Congo

Recently, Mr. Kasongo Bin Nassor, a senior advisor of CMOC TFM Company, was successfully elected as the new president of the Chambre des Mines Chamber of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the election for the president of the chamber. This is an affirmation of his contributions to the industry over the years, and it has also injected confidence and impetus into the development of TFM and a large number of mining enterprises, including Chinese-funded ones, in the mining sector of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Mining Chamber of Commerce is one of the most influential industry organizations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is a professional chamber of commerce in the mining field under the Congolese Business Federation (FEC) and was established in 2011. As a bridge for communication between the government and enterprises and the "helmsman" of industry development, the Mining Chamber of Commerce plays a crucial role in promoting policy dialogue, enhancing governance transparency, and safeguarding industry rights and interests. Its mission lies in consolidating industry consensus, integrating industry demands, promoting scientific legislation, interpreting policy guidance for enterprises at the same time, building a positive interaction mechanism between the government and enterprises, reducing enterprise operation costs, and safeguarding the stable development of the mining industry. Mr. Nassor, the new president of the Mining Chamber of Commerce, has been deeply involved in both the political and business circles of the mining industry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for many years. He is well-versed in the local culture and familiar with international rules. He has successively held important positions in public institutions such as the National Assembly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Business Federation, accumulating profound experience in public affairs.

OT

For many years, I have represented private mining enterprises in the multi-party consultation mechanism of the National Committee of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (ITIE-RDC), and actively promoted policy transparency and responsible governance. During his tenure at TFM Company, he held positions such as General Manager of Government Affairs and Senior Advisor to CPO, accumulating rich experience in government-enterprise communication, community coordination, and compliance governance. His dual background will bring unique value to the Mining Chamber of Commerce and a wide range of mining enterprises: highlighting the advanced management concepts and technological strength of Chinese-funded enterprises, and consolidating the communication bridge with local stakeholders in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. TFM Company was in charge of the chamber of commerce many years ago. Mr. Nassor's "return to the helm" this time is of profound significance and builds on the past for the future. After taking office, he will adhere to TFM's sustainable development concept of "Responsible mining makes the world a better place", and implement its five chamber of commerce governance programs: improving the business environment, continuing the pace of reform, expanding financial and technological resources, strengthening information communication mechanisms, and ensuring the safety and stability of mining areas. TFM Company has always attached great importance to and deeply participated in all the affairs of the Mining Chamber of Commerce, standing together with each member enterprise through thick and thin and supporting each other. Taking the election as an opportunity, the company will continue to strongly support the work of the chamber of commerce, actively participate in policy formulation, standard construction and responsibility governance, promote the common prosperity of the industry, and contribute to the high-quality and sustainable development of the mining industry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. At present, TFM is the largest mining company in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and also the largest investment project of Chinese enterprises in the country. In 2024, TFM paid a total of 1.134 billion US dollars in taxes and fees to relevant government departments for the year. Since the project began in 2006 until now, a total of approximately 7.026 billion US dollars in taxes and fees have been paid.
